Time is passing by so quickly … Fat Tuesday is next week … the beginning of Mardi Gras, Carnival and Lent.
I whipped up these cupcakes very quickly … you can too 🙂
This is what you will need …
- Cupcakes
- Yellow frosting in a pastry bag & tip #1M
- Yellow candy melts (yellow chocolate) & a squeeze bottle
- Wax paper
- Purple & green sprinkles
- Toothpicks with frills
- CK American Gold Disco Dust
Make the masks – I drew a mask “pattern” as a guideline (I’m no artist), covered it with wax paper and laid the toothpicks in place …
Use the melted yellow candy in a squeeze bottle to draw the masks … make sure that the candy goes over the toothpick …
Sprinkle gold disco dust … I dip a brush in the disco dust and tap the brush …
Let the candy harden up. Do you see the mask without disco dust? I made a little boo-boo … the candy can be melted and used again …
Frost your cupcakes …
Add the purple (bad photo, they’re not blue) sprinkles … Go Lakers! (sorry, I couldn’t resist) …
And the green sprinkles … now they are looking like Mardi Gras cupcakes …
Add a mask and they are complete …
Enjoy a cupcake … and maybe have a Hurricane with it …
Wow you are so talented and creative. Is that yellow candy chocolate or another product that you used for the masks? Take care, BAM

It is yellow chocolate, sometimes called candy melts. 🙂

Then these little cupcakes need to stay refrigerated. You have a lot of patience working with chocolate. Take Care, BAM

The chocolate mask doesn’t need to be refrigerated. If you use milk in the frosting, you probably need to refrigerate. The chocolate really is very easy to work with.

Very Cute!!! Love the chocolate masks!!! Where did you get the small white containers that hold the sprinkles? I would love to own these!!!

Thank you … the white containers are paper brioche cups. I got them at a cake decorating store or Sur La Table.

Thanks for the info. I thought they were plastic ice cream cups!! They must be strong for paper!

Great looking cupcakes; very enpressive.
Can a person get the disco dust in craft stores by cake decorating supplies or just on line.of which I don’t do.

If your craft store carries Wilton, they have something very similar … Shimmer Dust.

Very clever. Did the masks have to sit on the top of the cupcake for stability or could they be up in the air a bit?

They can stand up a little … I would suggest to watch the frosting level because the toothpick isn’t very long.
