Today is a first … something other than a cupcake, marshmallow or some other sugar based treat.
First of all … Stephanie, I am sorry for making this sandwich without you. After we talked about it yesterday morning … I realized that I had all the ingredients at home … I made it … ate it … and loved it. In fact I just made another one for lunch today … and loved it again. If you are still speaking to me … call me and I’ll make one for you!
Now that I have gotten that off my chest … let me tell you about this sandwich.
A few years ago, I was in San Francisco the day after Thanksgiving. Boudin Bakery is known for their sourdough bread … it is soooo good. The turkey and cranberry sandwich caught my eye … but I wasn’t so sure about the onion and lettuce. I like turkey and cranberry together … even had it with cream cheese (also yummy). Let me just say … I was pleasantly surprised. It was wonderful!
This is what you will need …
- Sourdough bread (I buy Boudin at Costco)
- Sliced turkey
- Red onion
- Romaine lettuce
- Cranberry sauce
- Mayonnaise (I like light)
I know that you probably don’t need instructions on how to make a sandwich … but I took the photos … so here it goes …
Spread cranberry sauce on one slice of bread and mayonnaise on the other …
Layer turkey and red onion on the cranberry side …
Add the lettuce …then top with other slice of bread …
Eat the whole sandwich and think about Stephanie … I hope she got lunch yesterday.
This is my favorite way to eat Thanksgiving leftovers, yum!

Yum! The best part of Thanksgiving is turkey sandwiches afterwards.
