Sparkly Star Marshmallow Straws … or Pops

I ♥ paper drinking straws …

I ♥ marshmallows …

I ♥ red, white and blue …

I ♥ the 4th of July …

And I ♥ these little creations …

I bought these star shaped marshmallows the minute I laid eyes on them … they are red, white and blue and are various sizes!  I was not sure what to do with them … but I knew that I “needed” them 🙂

In my mind I was thinking pops … I would finally have a project to use my red and white striped straws … I would use them in place of lollipop sticks!  So I made them this afternoon … took photos and sat down to write this post.

Then I talked with my friend, Gwen … she suggested to actually use them as straws in drinks … Gwen is so smart 😉  Why didn’t I think of that?

This is what you will need to make these Super Simple Sparkly Star Straws … or Pops …

  • Star Shaped Marshmallows (I found them at the grocery store)
  • Paper Drinking Straws or Lollipop Sticks
  • Red, White & Blue Sanding Sugar
  • Melted White Chocolate
  • A little water and paper towels (not in photo)

I found it easy to set up an assembly line … a bowl of water, paper towel, sugar and a plate …

Dip one side of the marshmallow in water … tap the marshmallow on a paper towel … dip the marshmallow in its matching color of sugar and set aside to dry for about 15 minutes …

After the marshmallows have dried, place them (sugar side down) in a pattern that you like …

Add a dot of melted white chocolate on each star … place a straw (or stick) on the melted chocolate … let sit until chocolate hardens …

Straws or Pops which will you make?
