Colorful Graduation Cupcakes … and a graduation review

When I think of graduation caps … the first color that comes to mind is black or dark chocolate … in the dessert world.

But not all caps are black … so I thought, why not make something a little more colorful and sparkly … of course you could make them any color … and as usual, this is a simple project 🙂

This is what you will need …

  • Cupcakes
  • Frosting
  • Graham crackers
  • White chocolate/candy melts (1 pound should make about 15-20 caps)
  • White crystal sugar
  • Candy for tassels (Air Head Xtremes, War Heads Sour Twists)
  • Candy for buttons (M&Ms, Sixlets)

I used a baking sheet lined with wax paper to set up my assembly line.  Spread melted white chocolate over one side the graham crackers … then pop them in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes to harden the chocolate …

Repeat on the other side … put in fridge again …

Dip or spread the edges of the cracker with white chocolate …

Then dip the edges in sugar … place on wax paper, set aside to let the chocolate harden up …

Next, make the tassels … cut the candy to desired length (I cut them in half) … pull the twists apart or cut the strips as shown below …

Use a little melted chocolate to attach the tassels and buttons …

Frost the cupcakes (I totally cheated and used ready-made frosting … I also pulled the last three cupcakes out of the freezer … the hubby will be happy … this is dessert tonight 😉 ) …

Place the finished crackers on the cupcakes …

Do you like the color?

Now for a quick graduation review …
